THE CURTIS ROOM
What’s in a name? Your room is named after the creator of the superb botanical pictures on the wall. Dating from the 1830s, they still delight the eye today. We don’t have an ‘official size’ for the bed! ‘King’ ‘Super-king’ ‘Emperor’, how would you describe a huge, hand-crafted 7ft x 7ft bed, made especially for a family member standing six foot nine in his stockinged feet?
Such a bed demands a throne, or at the very least a truly immense armchair. Settle in it with your laptop and return to modernity for a moment with the Wi-Fi link. Or sit at the antique desk and recall a time before email when the post came three times a day! This is a room with a view indeed. In fact it has two. If you tire, unlikely, of the outside prospect, you can always gaze through to the bathroom with its vast art deco bath.
THE TRELLIS ROOM
Enjoy heart-lifting views of the apple blossom in Spring from your windows. This uniquely decorated room can be either a king sized double or a twin room. You have the sophisticated luxury of your own private dressing room (Archie’s Room) which is ensuite.
A charming single room with ensuite facilities, an antique chest of drawers and a very comfortable chair!
This also doubles as a dressing room for the Trellis Room, if required.
THE HOGARTH ROOM
A rather fortunate visitor who clearly enjoys the finer things in life, including Hogarth prints, Colefax and Fowler curtains and all the regular comforts of Ballymote.
Later in the day, why not enjoy a bottle of wine by the drawing room fire? Or browse our library of local history and reference books, some of which may inspire an investigation of your own family history, or help if you are already tracing your Irish roots.
