What’s in a name? Your room is named after the creator of the superb botanical pictures decorating the walls. Dating from the 1830’s, they still delight the eye today. We don’t have an ‘official size’ for the bed! ‘King’ ‘Super-King’ ‘Emperor’, how would you describe a huge hand made 7ft x 7ft bed made especially for a family member who stood 6′ 9″ in his stockinged feet!Such a bed demands a throne, or at the very least a truly immense armchair. Settle in it with your laptop and return to modernity for a moment with the Wi-Fi link or sit at the antique desk to recall a time before email, when the post came three times a day! This is a room with two views, one over the rolling fields with our riding arena in the foreground and if you are lucky, Camilla may be schooling one of her horses there! The other is over a lawn where our hens may be scratching away. The ensuite bathroom has an enormous ‘Art-Deco’ bath. You can lie there luxuriating and gazing out over the fields.
THE TRELLIS ROOM
This uniquely decorated room can be made up with an enormous king-sizd bed or with two singles. In spring time, enjoy the heart lifting sight of the apple blossom peeking through the window. The other view looks over the stable yard. This room has the luxury of its own dressing room, “Archie’s Room” and its own bathroom ensuite to Archie’s.
This is a charming single ensuite room with a view over the rolling countryside. This room is mainly used as the dressing room for the Trellis Room. However it can be used as a single room by special arrangement when all other rooms are booked by one family or group of friends.
THE HOGARTH ROOM
This is a single bedroom with a charming antique French sleigh bed, decorated with a series of Hogarth prints and Colefax curtains. As this bedroom is not ensuite, its bathroom is down the corridor shared with Archie’s Room. Thus it is only available by special arrangement when all the other rooms are booked by one family or group of friends.
